Art Makes You Smart
Mr. Susman'a freshman English class has a gallery walk to present their projects based on The Alchemist. They read this book for English over winter break and learned about the magic realism theme. Student McKenna Carpenter looks over another students art. McKenna comments "It's been a great expirience to be in Mr. Susmans class, I've learned a lot as a student."
Power to the Pyramid
This artwork was made by Gregory James. Gregory based this drawing off of The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo. All of the freshman Pre-AP English classes made projects based off this book. The artist Gregory comments "This project was fun because I was able to create whatever I wanted to, there were no boundaries."
An Artistic Overview
Students judge other projects in the class. Mr. Susman's first period Pre-AP English class walks around and rates other artwork based on The Alchemist. the students enjoy donuts and lemonade as they have a gallery walk. One of Mr. Susman's students Eric Stanfield adds, "I really liked getting too the food because it's not something you would usually get to do in English." The gallery walk was held on Friday, January 15th.
Gracie: The format of your captions is excellent, but I don't care as much for the composition of these images. You cut the head's off all the people. I like the second caption better than the first because you identify the artist and get his take on his work. In the first caption, I am left wondering who created the piece in the photo. Solid work but I would encourage you to include people and faces in photos with future photo assignments. 93
